Listening to: Fences (Def Starr Version) by Pheonix
We drove 7 hours to Agra today, a city I visited when I was last in India. It's so dirty and hectic and insane here. We are staying at the Taj Hotel here. It's always so nice to be staying at the Taj chain. It's so clean, super safe, and the food is delicious and reliable. This hotel is very businessy, like the taj in Mumbai. I'm really looking forward to seeing Ajdas aunts hotel in Hyderbad. If it is anything like the Taj in Jaipur, we are in for a huge treat! She has already has some nice things planned for us.
On the way to the hotel we stopped at Fatehpur Sikri, and ancient palace and mosque built by the grandfather of the man who built the Taj Mahal, which we see tomorrow. I'm so excited!!! It was on of my favorite sites from the last time I visited India.
Anyways, this site was interesting.. It is all in its original condition. However, because of this, all the paintings and carvings had been worn down and off the walls so it was just another red sandstone fort. The mosque was pretty cool! We got to tie strings on the screens of it and make three wishes. People were very rude and shoving us out of the way... In so sick of that! So we shoved them right back. When in Rome, do as the Romans do!
We are now settled into our hotel eatin our expensive lunch (expensive here though is like normal Vancouver meals). I'm about to dig into my hot and sour soup, and I can here Islamic prayers being broadcasted over a speaker outside.
Tomorrow we get to see the Taj Mahal and then we drive to Delhi. Only two more destinations in India before heading to Nepal! That went by quick.
Ps. The photo of the 50 kids shoved in the back of the truck? That's an official school bus here in Agra. Mama Mia!
